Whitneyville is a small town with an average population of around 200 located in beautiful Washington County, Maine. We rely on and share expenses with our neighboring towns for Hospitlal, ambulance, education, fire suppression and  waste and recycling services. Most town services are handled locally with the exception of vehicle registration and excise tax collection which we share services with the Town of Jonesboro.

Our children are fortunate to have a little league field and basketball court in town and a new bus to  deliver them to Rose Gaffney Elementary School, Machias High School or Washington Academy. We are also just a few miles from the University of Maine Machias and the Life long learning center.

Once  a thriving logging community we have flexed with changing times and are now noted as having  some very delicious Maine Wild blueberries and we are home to one of the largest wreath making enterprises in the Northeast.

Our town is nestled on both sides of the Machias River which provides all with ample places to fish and enjoy recreational boating and canoeing/kayaking.  A few years ago we installed a boating access ramp. We are also very proud to have the Sunrise trails run through our town, these trails offer 80+ miles of groomed trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and ATVing and snowmobiling. When you are not fishing drop into the town library and settle down with a good book.

Hillgrove Community Center offers a rentable hall, when not in use for town meeting!
